I said pretty much the EXACT same thing Alex said in the car on the way home and my friends were like “So you felt bad for a rapist.” No. I felt bad because he DIDN’T UNDERSTAND WHAT HE’D JUST DONE. He thought she still loved him. I mean, that doesn’t make it anything other than rape and it’s wrong and disgusting either way. But yea, I guess I did feel bad. His character didn’t understand what he’d done, he didn’t understand that she really didn’t feel the same way. He still loved her in a crazy, messed up way and it made him do something horrible, crazy and violent to her.
And honestly, I don’t even know what to say about the people who are trying to make it look like he said something horribly offensive by saying he felt bad for his character. He didn’t say he supports rape because he doesn’t. Seriously, you need to re-read what was said because it has nothing to do with him supporting rape. And really if you listen to any other thing this man has said in other interviews about ANYTHING you’d realize that he actually is a very smart, sweet man. He is not just a pretty face and to suggest that that’s all he is, is very shallow, rude and disrespectful. If you aren’t good at understanding characters and seeing other points of view and thinking before you speak you probably shouldn’t, just saying.

Because you see our point of view? I’m so damn tired of people twisting my words, I don’t even know what to say anymore. Criticizing the way he expresses himself is apparently not allowed. Got it. Did you pause to think that maybe your friends’ reaction should have been an indication that this is a tricky subject?
I don’t know why people keep saying “He didn’t support rape! He’s not a rape apologist! Try to understand what he’s saying!” When did I accuse him of supporting rape? Goddamn, little girls and their celeb crushes are a thing of beauty. And yes, now I’m being a bitch on purpose, you bring it out in me.
